What is the Gecko Project
?
Like many others, I have been inspired by the Ron Champion book, 'Build
Your
Own Sportscar for £250'. 
The difference is that I don't want a front engine, rear wheel drive, Lotus 7 clone. I want something more contemporary. Something mid-engined.
There are two major attractions in a mid-engined design for me:
- Better packaging, with more weight close to the centre-of-gravity, should mean improved handling.
- Transverse, front-wheel-drive drivetrains are much more common than RWD ones
now. A modern engine is a must for registration in

why
‘Gecko’? Gecko's are small,
quick lizards noted for their sticky feet. I hope my Gecko will
be a
small, quick sports car also noted for its sticky feet. Time will
tell :)
These pages have been updated somewhat as at April 2004, the first time
in over
18 months for most of the site, and over three years for the
remainder!
Hopefully things will progress more now as construction is underway.
