Undertaking a project like this would be nearly impossible without the
support of like-minded individuals. On this page I'll chronicle
some of the events that help keep my enthusiasm alive.
Macleans Bridge 2004
For many years, the Triumph Sports Owners Club has been gathering in a
park at North Maclean, south-west of Brisbane, on Mothers Day, the
second Sunday in May. Over time other sports car owners have come
along and the event is now a major show for all kinds of sporting
machinery. Here's a few photos that give some flavour of this
years event. As always, click for bigger images.
Clubmans of various flavours inclusing some real Lotii in the last
photo. The orange car in the first two shots is Phil Rowe's
beautifully presented Locost.

3 June 2004 Update
I got to Macleans just after Peter Bezett left in his twin to Phil's
car (in fact one of the P3-7 triplets although Paul's is not quite
finished yet). Peter was good enough to send me these three
photos of
his car and the twins together.
Some Italian machinery, including a reminder that not all Lamborghinis
are small!

For some Australo-Italian flavour, how about a Giocattolo? Take
an Alfa Sprint body, gut it and replace half the panels with Kevlar or
Fibreglass, then mount a 5 litre V8 in the back with a ZF
transaxle. Yummy!

To end our whirlwind tour, two contrasting machines. First, an
S600 roadster. I once owned a rare Coupe version of this car (as
well as some roadsters and a small mountain of parts). Second, an
immaculate Jaguar E-Type lightweight race replica (please, someone tell
me it was a replica and not one of the impossibly valuable originals!).

Locost Builders BBQ - 30 May 2004
The Brisbane Locost Builders BBQ was held here on the Sunday 30th and
was a roaring success (by my measure at least). Over thirty
people attended and four comleted cars were on show.
Unfortunately, our digital camera disappeared sometime in the afternoon
so I don't have any of our photos to show. Thankfully, others
attendees have been good enough to send me some of theirs. Thanks
to Neil Davissen and Iain Hall for these images.

The maroon car was built by students at St Peters Lutheran College
(from memory - I'm sure Padraic will correct me if I'm wrong).
The bright orange Locost is John O'Reillys and shows the chips and
scratches of a car that gets serious amounts of use - more than 20,000
kilometres in the 18 months or so it's been on the road (correct
John?). Also above, Peter Bezett takes Nina Kenny for a ride in
his blue rocket - I suspect this photo was taken as they were leaving
because Nina was quiet and pale when they got back!
Thanks again to everyone who came, particularly John, Padraic, Peter,
and Phil for bringing and showing cars. Anyone who has photos
they'd like shown here just email me.
